Things were looking great for the New York Rangers to have a bounce-back season this year…until they weren’t. They didn’t just lose to the Washington Capitals on Friday - they lost former Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender Igor Shesterkin for the season. Of course, that impacts any Canucks vs. Rangers predictions for Sunday.
Thankfully for New York and their fans, they have the luxury of coming back to home ice to take on what may end up being the worst team in hockey again, the Vancouver Canucks. Not only is not much going on for Vancouver overall, but they were also on the ice against Jack Hughes and the New Jersey Devils yesterday. Despite scoring the first goal of the game, their poor defense and goaltending once again let them down in the three-goal loss. That’s why, despite the loss of Shesterkin for the season, there will still be plenty of Canucks vs. Rangers predictions on New York. That said, it’s also why they’re a huge favorite on home ice.
The Rangers puck line is absolutely in play, but now that Vancouver can find the back of the net without Shesterkin in their way, we like targeting the low total instead. So, let’s just enjoy rooting for goals in Madison Square Garden.
