It’s been a rough start to the season for the Philadelphia Flyers, losing 7-0 at home and then in overtime just 24 hours later. Hopes are much higher than those results in Philly after making some noise in the Stanley Cup playoffs last year, especially with how much Dan Vladar is expected to help cash some Hurricanes vs Flyers predictions and beyond.
The Flyers locked him up with a five-year deal, and when it comes to taking on the Carolina Hurricanes, it’s as tough of a task as it gets. After all, they’re the reigning Stanley Cup champions that didn’t just eliminate these same Flyers in the postseason - they swept them! Philly wants their revenge for sure, but that’s going to be difficult to come by given their current form. That said, we saw Carolina get shut out in their season opener at home, and on top of that, they were just on the ice last night. That’s why we see this game as closer to a pick ‘em than you’d otherwise expect. They had starting netminder Brandon Bussi in goal last night, so he won’t be a part of any Hurricanes vs Flyers predictions for tonight.
While that gives Philly some value in terms of pulling off the upset, we’re just going to stick with what Carolina is known for and what we saw in their playoff series: low-scoring games. All four ended with five or fewer goals; that said, we still highly recommend making sure that you get the push condition at six for tonight.
