Helping kick off an action packed night in the NHL, the Winnipeg Jets and Tampa Bay Lightning hit the ice. Both teams find themselves on respective losing streaks, and should give us a hard-fought battle. This is the first of two meetings this season, and it is time for our in-depth Jets vs. Lightning prediction.
The Jets find themselves at the front of NHL headlines after trading their all-star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. This means mediocrity in net for Winnipeg could continue, giving Tampa Bay an excellent opportunity to thrive in the goal-scoring department. Averaging 3.45 goals, and lead by the likes of Nikita Kucherov, Brandon Hagel, and Brayden Point, this team can clearly score and should give Winnipeg headaches. The proof if in the pudding, scoring 21 goals in their last four games. Winnipeg has been quite poor offensively this season, but what I expect from them this game is an increased urgency and high effort, as things are really getting out of hand for them. With the addition of Dawson Mercer, Winnipeg offers a pretty deep forward group, and they should be due to build some offensive confidence any game now. For our Jets vs. Lightning prediction, we expect a high-scoring game and are siding with the over 6.0.
Jets vs. Lightning prediction: Over 6.0 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that total to (-125).
