The Islanders conclude their Ontario road trip with a stop in Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs. The issues that have plagued this organization over the last couple of years remain the same today. They don’t generate enough shots on goal, which, in turn, has them scoring below three goals again. It also doesn’t help that the power play is under 20%. We know they can defend, limit shots, and the goaltending can stand tall, but that hasn’t translated into much success, especially on the road, where they have a 0-2-1 record.
The Maple Leafs have lost two in a row and allowed ten goals in that span. The addition of Sergei Bobrovsky hasn’t made much of a difference, as the defence group is still below average. The group also allows close to 30 shots against per game, so it’s hard to win when the goalie, who can’t stop the puck, is seeing too many shots. The good news tonight is that the Islanders’ offence just isn’t that dangerous. This is a spot for Toronto to get back on track and get back over .500. We’ll take them to cover the Money Line.
