It’s an all-Canadian, all-rebuilding matchup in the NHL on Saturday as the Vancouver Canucks host the Calgary Flames. These Pacific Division opponents come into this season with low expectations, as each roster sees themselves in the thick of a rebuild. It should be a tight affair, and we are here with some Flames vs. Canucks predictions to see how it may play out.
It was an interesting first 2 games for Vancouver, who posted a 1-1-0 record, scoring 13 goals while giving up 14 against the Edmonton Oilers. This contest should be a lot more grounded against a Flames team that lacks star power and experience. I do think those first 2 games also battle tested Vancouver right off the hop, and in this home game I think they can carry that into what could be a strong effort. Some highly-capable players remain on this Canucks team such as Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser, who combined for 3 goals and 4 assists in those games. They are a focal point to this group, and look offensively great so far. In their first game and home opener, Calgary looked completely outmatched against a middling Seattle Kraken team. This was a sign of whats to come this season, as the roster is filled with young, inexperienced, and raw talent that will need to find its way. While I expect a better effort and a closer game, this looks like another loss for the young Flames. For our Flames vs. Canucks prediction, we are siding with Vancouver on the money line.
