The Toronto Maple Leafs will start hearing the Michael Myers music on Halloween if they drop the final game of their Western Conference road trip to the Vancouver Canucks, as what first looked like a promising journey turned into two straight losses to the Seattle Kraken and Calgary Flames this week.
Sergei Bobrovsky was the story coming out of Wednesday’s game, as the Leafs did everything they could to battle back against the Kraken, including a last-minute goal from their captain, Auston Matthews, but Bob allowed a stinker shortly after to give away the overtime point they were chasing. The good news for the Maple Leafs: Anthony Stolarz starts tonight. The bad news: They have two more years of Bobrovsky after this one.
The Canucks are 1-8-1 over their last 10, and look like front-runners to win the Landon DuPont sweepstakes (if they can win the lottery for a change). If the Maple Leafs are going to be a serious team this season, they can't end this road trip with a loss to the lowly Canucks. Expect Toronto, on the back of Stolarz, to get the job done here and kickstart a goaltending controversy in hockey’s mecca.
