The Seattle Kraken travel to Washington, DC, to take on the Capitals for the first time this season. Seattle has gotten off to a blistering offensive start, scoring over four goals per game on just 26 shots on goal. A key reason for their increased offense has been the power play, which operates at 26.7%. The hot streak can’t continue forever, so regression is coming. We just don’t know when.
The Capitals are one of the better defensive teams, allowing just 2.25 goals per game. A large reason for that success is Logan Thompson, who has won all three of his starts and sports a .929 SV%. Even if Charlie Lindgren gets the call, Washington is a well-built team that can defend at a high level and limit scoring chances. The Kraken may struggle to generate offense, so scoring chances may be few and far between. We’ll lock in the under and hope both goalies come ready to perform.
Kraken vs Capitals Prediction: Under 6.5 (-120) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.
