NHL Best Bets Today: October 6 Picks & Predictions, including Hurricanes vs Canadiens
Following a light slate to start the week (the league knows Monday Night Football steals the show), we get to enjoy a loaded Tuesday on the ice. That’s why having our NHL best bets today is a must, especially when the start of the slate features a rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals! We’ve got great games starting with the Hurricanes vs Canadiens clash all the way up to Panthers vs Kings to close it out, so let’s make the most of it all with our best NHL predictions.
Along with our NHL best bets today, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.
NHL Best Bets Today: Hurricanes vs Canadiens Under 6.5 (-120)
Given the aforementioned Eastern Conference Finals rematch, how could we not get started there? The Habs will be looking for revenge after Carolina eliminated them in 4-1 fashion in last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, and they’ll have the luxury of being at home to do so.
Even with that being the case, we’re not going to call for that slight upset with our NHL best bets today, but rather just a lower-scoring game. Frankly, we’re quite surprised to see that this total is up to 6.5 goals, but we’ll take the value where we see it. It doesn’t take long to see why the under is the play, starting with the Hurricanes. They’ve been elite defensively for several seasons now, ranking inside the top five in terms of shots on goal allowed.
They ranked #1 overall in that regard en route to their Stanley Cup victory, and as for the Canadiens, they ranked #1 overall in terms of blocked shots. The postseason meetings in Montreal ended with just four and five goals, so that’s how we’re starting our NHL best bets today as well.
NHL Best Bets Today: Wild vs Sabres Over 6 (-125)
Alongside the aforementioned Hurricanes vs Canadiens is another matchup that we’re looking forward to, and it wouldn’t have been the craziest Stanley Cup Final prediction last year. It certainly would have been an explosive one, and that’s why we’re now going to root FOR goals with our NHL best bets today.
If there is one thing that these teams are known for, it’s being electric and potent offensively. That’s why Kirill Kaprizov and Tage Thompson player props are sure to be in this spot, but for now, we’ll just stick with both teams finding the back of the net early and often. They both did four times on Saturday night, so doing so again will cash our NHL best bets today.
While both squads have started to improve their goaltending last season to try and match their offensive production, we did just see Buffalo allow three goals to the Connor Bedard-less Chicago Blackhawks - a team that was smashed 6-0 and 5-2 in their first two games. Along with a 5-4 game the last time these two met, we love rooting for goals in Buffalo for our NHL best bets today.

NHL Best Bets Today: Roman Josi Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+102)
We mentioned player props, and that’s exactly how we’re going to round things out tonight. We’re also doing so with another matchup in Canada in the earlier window of games, so there is no waiting to go 3-for-3 with our NHL best bets today. This time, it’s in Toronto for Predators vs Maple Leafs.
Goaltending has long been an issue for the Leafs, which is why they added Sergei Bobrovsky from the Florida Panthers this offseason. However, that doesn’t remedy all their issues. Even if the 39-year-old holds up his end of the bargain, Toronto still allows far too much pressure on net. They allowed the most shots on goal per game last season, and while their first three opponents this year haven’t forced them back to that spot, they haven’t been teams known for doing so. In other words, it’s not enough to keep this off our NHL best bets today.
On top of that, until this past season, Roman Josi was a guy who had a line of 3.5 at the least, and it was at 4.5 in great matchups. Well, that’s what this is, and on top of that, we love that the defenseman is virtually always on the ice. With all that mind, the Predators captain wraps up our NHL best bets today!
