The holiday break couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Buffalo Sabres as they were humming along and riding a seven-game winning streak. The Boston Bruins will be visiting and they have been trending in the opposite direction. They are riding a four-game losing streak. A big reason for the Sabres recent success has been their defensive play. During their seven-game streak, they have only surrendered three or more goals twice. I think they will be able to keep this up against a Bruins team that really only has two offensive threats. If the Sabres can shut down David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie, they should be successful in this game. The Sabres are a much better team on home ice, their record is 11-5-2 at the KeyBank Center. I expect the building to be rocking, which should provide some extra energy for them.

The Bruins got off to a solid start to the season, but their recent play is more of what was expected of them coming into this season. They lack the offensive depth to provide any sustained pressure against their opponents. I think the Sabres will continue the winning streak, give me Buffalo on the money line.
