The Buffalo Sabres will be hosting the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night. The Sabres have been off to a brutal start this season. They are currently sitting dead last in the Atlantic Division with seven wins. The positive is that six of their seven wins have come on home ice, and that is where they will be on Friday. There have not been many bright spots for the Sabres, but one has been their penalty kill. It is the best in the NHL at the moment, operating at an impressive 89.8%. Forward Tage Thompson has been red-hot lately and doing much of the heavy lifting offensively for the Sabres. In his last six games, he has five goals, including goals in four straight games. Look for him to factor in on the scoring for the Sabres.

The Blackhawks are playing at home on Thursday night and the puck will be dropped in Buffalo less than 24 hours later. With the travel and short rest between games, I expect the Blackhawks to come out of the gates a little slow. The Sabres should be hungry to start putting points into the bank and they should be looking to capitalize on a tired Blackhawks team. Give me the Sabres in this one.
