The Toronto Maple Leafs are hosting the Metropolitan Division-leading Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night. Not many were expecting this start from the Penguins and believe they will come back to reality soon. We may have seen the first signs of that on Saturday when they were completely dominated by the Winnipeg Jets. At the other end of the ice, the Leafs are notoriously slow starters and are already off to a 1-0 start since the calendar has flipped to November. They have been good on home ice to begin the year; they boast a 5-2-1 record at Scotiabank Arena. William Nylander is expected to return to the lineup, which will provide them a much-needed boost to Toronto’s offense.

The Penguins have been very good defensively and their offense has been clicking, led by the ageless wonders Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. They have been receiving good contributions from Justin Brazeau, but I do not see that continuing. The Pens are without Rickard Rakell which is a big loss offensively. I think the Leafs’ depth will prove to be too much for the Penguins to handle. Give me the home team in this one.
