Jets vs Blues Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Winnipeg Jets got well with a victory at Canada Life Centre in front of the whiteout at home. The Jets have won all three playoff games at home, while it has been a nightmare on the road. In fact, Vezina Trophy candidate Connor Hellebuyck was pulled in both Game 3 and Game 4, allowing 11 goals on just 43 shots. Backup Eric Comrie came on and received some playing time in mop-up duty. Hellebuyck helped the Jets get back on track in Game 5, a 5-3 victory, but he was still not terribly sharp. Hellebuyck allowed three goals on just 19 shots in the win.
We’ll see if Connor Hellebuyck and the Blues are able to tap into that home-crowd energy, taking the Presidents’ Trophy winners back to Winnipeg for a decisive Game 7. It will be a little more difficult for the Jets to get the job done on the road, as Winnipeg will be without Mark Scheifele. He was crushed on a hit from Brayden Schenn, suffering an apparent upper-body injury. He did not even make the trip to St. Louis, so Winnipeg will be without a key cog in the offense. That’s good news for Binnington, although there are still plenty of other options to test his mettle. Still, the Blues have been strong at home, and we should get yet another Game 7 in the Western Conference, joining the Avalanche and Stars.
