Europa League 2021 – Europa League Schedule
In a normal season, the Europa League competition begins in June with the preliminary qualification stages, ending with the final in May the following year.
As with all sports competitions during the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 Europa League schedule was disrupted and postponed. The culmination of the Europa League was originally planned for May 27th with the Europa League Final to be hosted in Gdansk, Poland. On 17 June 2020, the UEFA Executive Committee chose to relocate the final to Cologne and was scheduled for 21 August 2020.
Due to the disruption to the 2019-20 Europa League, the 2020-21 Europa League season has been delayed with qualifying due to start on the 20th of August but the Europa League Final still scheduled for May 2021 in a slightly truncated competition.
The Europa League group stages are to be played between 22 October 2020 – 10 December 2020, with the knockout stages of the tournament set to start on February 18th, 2021. Check out all of the key Europa League dates below

How Many Teams Are In The Europa League?
The Europa league has a somewhat confusing qualifying procedure before reaching the group stage and finally a knockout tournament, but in total 160 teams will participate in Europe’s secondary club tournament, 48 in the Europa League group stages, and 32 teams in the knockout competition through to the final.
The Europa League competition in earnest begins in June with the preliminary qualifiers at which stage there are 104 teams vying for a place in the second qualifying round.
The second qualifying round sees the 52 first-round winners joined by 14 teams who qualify through Cup, and league finishing positions, determined by their nation’s ranking in the European Club standings to create 33 second-round qualifiers.
The third round of qualifying sees the 33 second-round winners pitted against another 25 teams from higher-ranked nations, with teams qualifying again based on league position or by winning the domestic cup competitions in certain nations.
The 29 third-round winners are joined by the 15 losers from the Champions League third qualifying round, with the 22 winners guaranteed a spot in the Europa League group stages.
The Group stages consist of the 22 third-round winners, 16 teams qualifying via winning their domestic cup or league finishing position, and the 10 losers from the Champions League play-off round.
There are 48 teams in the Europa League group stages, with the top two from each group qualifying for the knockout stages, where they are joined by the 8 third-placed teams in the Champions League group stage to make a 32-team knockout competition through to the final.

The Europa League, formerly known as the Uefa Cup has been in existence since 1971 as Europe’s secondary club competition.
Since its inception, 28 different clubs have won the Europa League/Uefa Cup.
Sevilla leads the way in the number of Europa League titles with 6, including three successive between 2014-2016.
Liverpool, Juventus, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid all come in at second with 3 Europa League titles each.
