In Tuesday action from Conference USA, the New Mexico State Aggies meet the Liberty Flames at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia. Two seasons ago, these teams not only met in the regular season, but they also met in the Conference USA Championship Game. Liberty has won 3 in a row, and 6 of the past 7 meetings, although the Aggies and Flames have split 2-2 against the spread in the past 4 in the series. Last season in Las Cruces, NMSU kept it close, falling 30-24 as a 22-point underdogs.

New Mexico State roughed up Sam Houston last Saturday, winning 37-10 as a 2-point underdog, and it is not only 2-2 ATS this season as an underdog, but it has won two of those games outright. The Arkansas State Red Wolves picked up a stunning 31-30 victory last time out against Texas State as a 13.5-point underdog, halting a four-game losing streak in the process. While Ark State has allowed 24 or more points in all six games this season, until last time out, the offense had really been struggling. From Sept. 6-27, the Red Wolves scored 16 or fewer points in three of four games. The rushing offense is good for just 119.0 yards per game, and just 23.3 PPG. Defensively, though, the Red Wolves have had issues, allowing 474.3 total yards, 212.8 rushing yards and 31.7 points per game.

For South Alabama, it has tailed off offensively lately, too, going for just 15.0 PPG in the past two outings. The Under has cashed in three in a row, and four of the past five outings. In this series, the Under has cashed in four straight meetings, and seven of the past nine meetings since Oct. 15, 2016, too. Defensively, USA is a lot more sound than Ark State. The Jaguars allow just 368.7 total yards, and only 169.2 passing yards per game. Offensively, the Jags have managed 202.5 rushing yards per game, but just 178.0 passing yards in each outing. Ultimately, running the ball runs the clock, so let’s back the under and don’t look back.

Delaware is a lot more consistent against the spread, while Jacksonville State hasn’t been able to cover the number lately.
