On Monday the UConn Huskies play host to the Columbia Lions in Storrs. The Huskies fell short of their goal last year of 3-peating as national champs, but this team is definitely talented enough to make another run this year. They opened with a 63-point shellacking of UMass Lowell, which is picked near the bottom of the American East. Now they host Columbia, which is picked near the bottom of the Ivy League. Don’t worry — it will get tougher for the Huskies in the coming weeks, with games on the schedule against BYU, Arizona, Illinois, Kansas and Florida. For now, though, brace yourselves for a beating. The line is a massive -32.5 and, honestly, if we are betting this game we probably should take it. I’ll play UConn -32.5.

Columbia won its opener against New Haven, but really this game has little to nothing to do with Columbia. It is just about UConn. The Huskies have a loaded roster that goes at least 10 players deep, all of them good. Alex Karaban is back in the post, they brought in a pair of very good transfer point guards and they still found room for a handful of talented freshmen. The Huskies are really, really good, and Dan Hurley knows it. With a spread this large, it mostly just comes down to good manners, and that isn’t usually something you see a lot from Hurley, so he probably won’t call off the dogs. They have already pounded one D1 squad by 60+; they will happily do it again. Give me UConn.
