Creighton vs Connecticut Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
Connecticut -16.5(-115)

The UConn Huskies host the Creighton Bluejays in Big East action on Wednesday. The Huskies are, predictably, running in first place in the conference — tied with St. John’s and really just a million miles ahead of everyone else. As a result, they keep laying huge numbers against the rest of the conference. Tonight they are -16.5 favorites over a middling Creighton team that is just 13-13 overall. When this game was at Creighton earlier in the season, UConn won by 27. I will lay the points with the Huskies in this one, too.

The problem for Creighton, aside from having to play Connecticut tonight, is that they are a guard-oriented team that does not shoot particularly well. They do not make all that many 3s, and their preferred method of attack is the guards shooting inside the arc. But you can’t really do that against UConn, which is top 10 in effective FG% allowed and top 15 defending both the 3 and the 2. The Huskies also rebound well (and Creighton does not). The weakness for the Huskies is that they foul too much, but Creighton isn’t great at getting to the line so it probably won’t be able to exploit that weakness. UConn is a heavy favorite almost every night and has failed to cover in 3 straight, but it should in this one. Let’s roll with the Huskies.

Creighton vs UConn prediction: UConn -16.5 (-115) available at time of publishing. Playable to -18.5.
