The Golden Eagles haven’t looked like themselves in the 2025-26 season. Marquette comes in 6-12, you read that correctly. The Blue Demons meanwhile sit at a respectable 10-7. Add in that the Golden Eagles have yet to win a road game this season and every expert is touting the Blue Demons to win this one handily. We however are not sold on that concept.

Marquette has owned DePaul recently. The Golden Eagles have won seven straight against the Blue Demons but undoubtedly the market is treating this as a “DePaul finally gets Marquette” scenario. However, there is an emotional intangible and mental edge that the Golden Eagles carry into this game because they know they have DePaul’s number. That is nothing small to weight out in the handicap. There are also two other factors to consider, as well. DePaul has played one of the weakest non-conference schedules out of any team in Division I. KenPom rates their strength of schedule 363rd out of 365 teams. In other words, they have feasted on cupcakes. Marquette meanwhile played the 17th toughest schedule overall in the country and have had some absymal luck while doing so, KenPom rates them 350th in that category. Marquette’s 6-12 record is a combination of being snake-bitten and battle tested. DePaul meanwhile has padded their resume with easy wins. The Blue Demons are no lock here. In fact, we are calling for the Golden Eagles to spring the upset outright and strike them down again.
