Middle Tennessee vs Michigan Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Under 157.5(-110)

The Michigan Wolverines return to action on Tuesday when they face the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. Both teams are 3-0 on the season, although it is a very different 3-0. For the Wolverines, they have already been tested with a couple of close contests with Wake Forest and TCU. MTSU, on the other hand, has opened against much softer competition. You can expect the Blue Raiders to get beaten badly in this spot as they step up in competition, but I think it is a lot to ask for a team to cover a spread that is approaching 30 points. I would far prefer to pivot to the game total, which I think will stay under 157.5.

Michigan is a great team this year. With UAB transfer forward Yaxel Lendeborg leading the way, this team is solid on both ends of the court. What is MTSU like? It is a disruptive defensive team, but it is a slow offense that shoots the 3-ball poorly. The Blue Raiders play in the half court a lot, and that is a tough ask for a middle-of-the-road mid-major against a team with a good defense and Final Four aspirations. MTSU may, however, slow the pace enough to suppress the scoring — and when Michigan is well in control late, it  shouldn’t be pushing the pace. A 90-65 final still doesn’t beat us, and I have a hard time seeing MTSU reaching 70. Hopefully the Wolverines won’t blow by 100 and cook us all by themselves.

Middle Tennessee vs Michigan prediction: Under 157.5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
