Things haven’t come easy for Xavier in their first two games, as they narrowly escaped with a four-point victory over Marist and a five-point victory against Le Moyne. Santa Clara also enters this matchup 2-0 after picking up a solid double-digit win over McNeese on Friday, though they shot just 39.4% from the field. Neither team has been impressive to start the season, but only one team will remain unbeaten after tonight’s matchup. 

The Musketeers are shooting just 38.4% from the field through their first two games, which is concerning given that both came against inferior opponents – matchups that should’ve been much easier for Xavier to handle. The Broncos are shooting 43.6% this season, but they also regressed in their last matchup, shooting just 39.4% from the field. Xavier will be relying on Malik Messina-Moore to step up at home against Santa Clara, who’s averaging 16.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. On the other side, Elijah Mahi leads the Broncos with 16.5 points per game this season and is shooting 54.5% from the field. Neither team is shooting well, and as they both have their star players, I’m going to side with the Broncos getting the points on the road. Xavier hasn’t been that impressive in their first two games at home, and Santa Clara has enough talent to keep this game close, or even win outright.
