TCU vs Texas Tech Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
Texas Tech -10.0(-109)

TCU with this amount of points, makes the number look tempting, but the underlying data suggests Texas Tech can comfortably split the double-digit gap. The fact that the Horned Frogs are a public dog here would further suggest, Tech is undervalued. The data points back that up. The Red Raiders just handed Iowa State its first home loss of the season. A team that some have pegged for a top seed in March Madness and a dark horse to win the title. Tech wrecked ISU 82-73, showcasing how they can dominate even elite competition. They also knocked off Arizona. And this is just recent exploits. The Red Radiers are a dangerous basketball team, plain and simple.

TCU has indeed won three straight and also knocked off Iowa State recently, but that win was in Fort Worth. That’s a big difference. One may point to a road win at Baylor in January as rationale to suggest that the Frogs can be a threat here, but a lot of things had to go right in that game. The Bears committed 18 turnovers and TCU hit 46% of their three-pointers. They had to score 97, and this overall speaks into their game. The Horned Frogs lean on turnovers (forcing about 14 per game) and opportunistic scoring rather than consistent half-court success to compete. The problem is Texas Tech won’t do them any favors. Tech turns the ball over under 11 times per contest and they are balanced, efficient in 3-point shooting, strong on the glass, and  consistent in offensive execution. It may look like too many points, but there is a reason for why Tech is getting this kind of respect: they are a nightmare for TCU. The Red Raiders’ momentum, stronger offensive foundation, home edge, and superior execution on both ends of the court make covering this line realistic.
