TCU Horned Frogs vs Utah Utes Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 01/17/26

We have a battle near the bottom of the Big 12 standings on Saturday, when the Utah Utes host the TCU Horned Frogs. The Frogs have only 1 win in conference play, and that came at home against Baylor in the opener. Since then they have lost to Kansas, Arizona and BYU. The Utes have yet to win in the conference, and the only one that was particularly close was the rivalry game at home against BYU. TCU is the better team here, ranked some 60 spots higher by the major metrics sources. Still, home court counts for something — so I am going to take the points with the Utes at +4.5.

Utah does not do a lot of things well, but it does like to play fast and score a lot. If the Utes get a little momentum going, that could be a problem for the Horned Frogs on the road. Head coach Jamie Dixon’s squad is better on the defensive end than the offensive end, and defense usually travels. Still, these Big 12 road games are all difficult venues. An early afternoon local start, played at elevation, with a crowd that is loud and seeking its first conference win all add up to a tough road spot for the Frogs. You fade Big 12 home teams at your own peril. I’ll take the points in this one.
