On Tuesday, the Michigan Wolverines host the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Wolverines opened the season with a 40-point annihilation of Oakland, announcing to the nation that this team is a serious contender from the get go. Wake Forest has banked 2 wins already, topping American and Morehead State by 14 and 16, respectively. On Tuesday, the Wolverines are the heavy favorites, and I am willing to support that. The Wolverines may well be one of the best handful of teams in the country, while Wake is good, but maybe in a transition year. I will take the Wolverines -15.

Let’s start with Michigan. This is a team that lost its top 3 scorers from last season, yet somehow they may actually be better this year. They will be led by UAB transfer Yaxel Lendenborg, a guy who will soon be a lottery pick. They also added several other new players, and they are a team with lots of talent and lots of depth, along with a proven coach. I think this Michigan team is very dangerous. On the other side, Wake has been flirting right on the edge of making the tournament for the last few years. They lost their top 2 scorers from a season ago, and they will be reliant upon transfers to lead the way. I think Wake will be okay across the long haul of the season, especially with the ACC being generally weak, but Michigan should be well ahead in this spot. I’ll take the Wolverines -15, but that really is the top of the price point for me.
