Washington vs Baylor Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
Baylor -6.5(-105)

Sunday night’s college basketball headliner is the Washington Huskies vs the Baylor Bears from Waco. Baylor won its opener against UTRGV, while Washington has already banked a pair of wins against Arkansas Pine Bluff and Denver. All three of those teams are projected to finish near the bottom of their conferences, so we probably don’t know much just yet about these teams. That is especially true in the case of Baylor and Washington, two teams that are almost entirely rebuilt from last year. I feel like we describe every team as “transfer-heavy” these days, but that is especially the case here. Still, I think Baylor is a bit ahead of Washington in the early going, thanks in part to playing 6 games together this summer in the World University Games. I will take Baylor at home -6.5 on Sunday.

Now about those rebuilds. Baylor lost the entire roster in the offseason. The literal entire roster. But Scott Drew reloaded with a bevy of transfers, plus an NBA prospect freshman guard, Tounde Yessoufou. They scored well in their opener, but more importantly, they controlled the physical stats, showing up big on the boards and shooting a whopping 32 free throws. As for Washington, after finishing last in the B1G last season, this team tore down and rebuilt. They poached the two leading scorers from rival USC, brought in several highly-recruited transfers, and have several freshmen who are difference-makers. This team will be fine this season. The difference on Sunday, I suspect, will be Baylor on the glass, Baylor’s extra experience gelling as a team this summer, and home court advantage in a cozy but loud environment. Give me the Bears in this spot.

Washington vs Baylor Prediction: Baylor -6.5 (-110) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
