William & Mary vs St. John's Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Under 177.5(-110)

The Tribe of William & Mary head to New York on Saturday to face the St. John’s Red Storm. If you like points, this is the game for you. They can go ahead and disconnect the shot clock on this one, and they probably need to bring some extras refs as subs, because this game will fly. St. John’s is averaging 100 points, and they just lost a 103-96 track meet to Alabama. William & Mary likes to play fast too, and they have been in the 80s in their last two games (and they scored 110 against a fake team in their opener). But if you are going to set a point total at 177.5 in this kind of mismatch game, I say “prove it”. I’ll take the under.

Rick Pitino has another good squad in the Big Apple. Last year, they played ruthless defense. While we shouldn’t expect them to once again be the #2 defensive team in the country, it is hard to imagine they will fall off too terribly far. On offense, they are still flying around, attacking the rim, and rarely shooting 3s, and they have proven that system can work. And the Tribe? They are a small conference team that is trying to win with a go-fast approach. They are not bigger, stronger, or faster than their major conference brethren, so they try to make up for it with pace, urgency, and cranking deep balls. I just don’t see it being effective against a team like the Johnnies. I mean, we start the bidding at 100-78, and I just don’t see that happening. So again, I say “prove it”.

William & Mary vs St. John’s Prediction: Under 177.5 (-115) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
