The team that doesn't quite make sense: the Florida State Seminoles. In Week 5, they blew out a decent Virginia team in Tallahassee, only to travel to Louisville the following week and get blown out themselves. The very next week, they went into Miami and pushed the Hurricanes to a 35-35 tie at the end of regulation before eventually falling in overtime, only to return home and lose to Clemson by 12 points in their next game. That defeat proved to be the final straw for the Florida State administration, as head coach Mike Norvell was relieved of his duties shortly afterward.
I foresee it being "fundamentals time" for the Seminoles. A coaching change often brings renewed focus and urgency, and with an interim staff looking to stabilize things, Florida State should come into this game highly motivated. Combine those emotions with a desire to salvage something from an otherwise disappointing season, and I believe the Seminoles do enough to finish ahead by a touchdown or more when the final whistle sounds.
Boston College enters this game with the better record at 4-4, while Florida State sits at 3-5. However, the Eagles haven't had to navigate a schedule that included Clemson, Louisville and Miami, three teams that have given plenty of opponents trouble this season. While this game will be played in Boston, I expect Florida State to arrive with the urgency and energy of a home team. Between the emotional lift of a coaching change and a determination to salvage what remains of its season, the Seminoles look poised to leave Massachusetts with both teams sitting at 4-5. I think a touchdown is just enough separation, which is why I'm all in on Florida State -6.5.
Boston College vs Florida State best bet: FSU Seminoles -6.5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable to -7 (-120).
