The Ball State Cardinals hit the road for Amherst, and this is actually a big game for the bowl potential of both teams. Ball State is looking for its fourth win, and third straight, while UMass can halt a skid and get to within one game of eligibility, which would do wonders for that program. Ball State comes in with 33.0 points per game (PPG) on the past two wins over Bowling Green and Sacramento State, not exactly a gauntlet.
UMass opened the season with four straight wins, including a stunning 37-21 win at Rutgers as a 29.5-point underdog. It also topped Sacramento State for its only MAC win. It has dropped four in a row, with two of those games coming in one-score decisions. The Under has hit in three in a row, and six of seven games, as the Minutemen have forgotten how to play offense. UMass has 19 or fewer points in four in a row, while the defense has at least been serviceable. The Under cashed in Ball State's win over Sac State, but it has been all about the Over for the Cardinals. We should get a game into the 50's here.
Over 49.5 (+100) at time of publishing. Playable to 50.5.
