Point Spread Pick
Arizona State -7.0(-110)

The Arizona Sun Devils and Colorado Buffaloes meet at an interesting time for both programs. For ASU, preseason Heisman-hopeful QB Sam Leavitt is out for the season while his replacement Jeff Sims has surprisingly played good football in recent weeks. For Colorado, the program appears to be derailing after a surprise win over Iowa State, going 0-3 against the spread amid a three-game losing streak. While Sims is no Leavitt, the Arizona State offense has still been able to move the ball well. The Sun Devils are averaging over 180 yards per game on the ground and rank top-20 in EPA/rush, which should bode well against a Colorado defense that ranks 110th in defensive success rate against the run.

Whether it be Kaidon Salter, Julian Lewis or even Ryan Staub under center for Colorado, the passing game has been a shell of itself compared to the days of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. The Buffaloes rank 88th in passing yards per game and 122nd in quality drive rate. The lack of quality drives also comes from a failure to establish any sort of ground game, coming in at 130th in rushing success rate and 100th in EPA/rush. With all things considered, Arizona State is still fighting for a hopeful spot in the Big 12 title game and the rushing attack should cut through the Colorado defense like a hot knife through butter. I’ve got the Sun Devils covering on the road.

Arizona State vs Colorado prediction: Arizona State -7 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.
