Auburn Tigers vs Baylor Bears Prediction, Odds and Picks for Friday, 08/29/25
Auburn vs Baylor Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Auburn Tigers out of the SEC will travel to Waco, Texas this Friday to open the college football season when they take on the Baylor Bears. Auburn struggled last season, finishing with a record of 5-7 after only winning two of their first seven games. Junior quarterback Jackson Arnold, who struggled last season under center in Oklahoma, transferred in and will be looking to get a fresh start for the Tigers. Baylor also got off to a slow start last season, but they hit the gas halfway through the year. The Bears won their last six games to finish with an impressive 8-4 record in what was a competitive Big 12 Conference. Senior quarterback Sawyer Robertson will lead the Baylor offense again this season. He finished last season throwing for 3071 yards, 28 touchdowns, and only 8 interceptions. Robertson fronts an explosive Baylor offense that averaged 34.4 points per game last season.
Arnold’s struggles at Oklahoma last season were well documented. He struggled with turnovers early on in the season before he was eventually replaced. Arnold eventually got his starting position back, but even when he did he still struggled creating big plays and staying efficient. On paper, Baylor has the advantage at the quarterback position in this matchup. Fortunately for Auburn, the offense has 11 players, and Auburn may out talent Baylor in all other areas. The main concern for Baylor heading into this game should be Auburn’s offensive line. Baylor’s defensive front is smaller than what the big men on Auburn are used to, and the Tigers’ offense should be able to lean into their strength and running game to set the tone in this game. If Baylor decides to sell out on the run, Auburn has a talented set of receivers, including 6’3” sophomore Cam Coleman. If Arnold can prove to be accurate, he has receivers like Coleman who have the ability to win their matchups on most plays. This may not be a pretty win, but I think the Tigers have enough talent to go into Waco and walk out with a victory.
Auburn -2.5 is available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
