California Golden Bears vs Boston College Eagles Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/27/25

The California Golden Bears had a solid 3-0 start to the season, including a win over Minnesota before laying down an absolute clunker in a 34-0 loss against San Diego State. Boston College, on the other hand, is fresh off a much-needed bye week following a 10-point loss to Stanford as 14-point favorites last time out. Despite having the bye week, head coach Bill O’Brien told reporters the extra rest really didn’t help recoup some of the impactful injuries on the defensive side of the ball. While the Bears laid an egg last time out, I expect the offense to get back on track in this one.

Even after last week’s debacle, California ranks 22nd in quality drive rate, yet only 92nd in points per quality drive. This means the Bears are struggling to finish drives and have had some costly turnovers. Luckily for Cal, Boston College is tied for dead-last in FBS in red zone defense, and has only forced 2 turnovers through 3 games. Freshman QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele has shown a ton of promise early on, and the weakened Boston College defense is the ideal matchup for him to regain his confidence after a tough outing. With all things considered, I’ll back California to keep this one close and cover on the road.
