Georgia Tech vs Colorado Pickswise Expert Predictions

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Point Spread Pick
Georgia Tech -4.0(-110)

The hype train of the Colorado Buffaloes will have a new look in 2025, as Deion Sanders’ squad must adjust to life without Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Entering Week 1 at home as underdogs, Colorado could have tremendous growing pains in the 2025 campaign after replacing its QB, top-4 receiving targets and a trio of offensive lineman. The Buffaloes will be led by veteran liberty transfer Kaidon Salter at QB, though they return just 3 starters total from what was an electric offense. While Salter is no Joe Schmoe, I expect the passing game to struggle a bit against a veteran Georgia Tech secondary that ranks top-40 in returning production. The defense for Colorado, however, presented serious problems last year and will be leaned on more this time around without the star power on offense. Not to forget, Coach Prime had an array of health problems over the offseason and his squad enters the new year with a ton of questions marks.

On the contrary, the Georgia Tech program is building something in head coach Brent Key’s third full season at the helm. While the Buffaloes are a mystery with a bevy of new transfer players in what begins a new era for coach Sanders, we know almost exactly what to expect out of the Yellow Jackets. QB Haynes King returns for another year while 1,000-yard rusher Jamal Haynes is back as well to lead the rushing attack. Not to forget, Colorado is without their star cornerback, top pass rusher, both safeties and both linebackers from a year ago defensively. Really the only concern for the Yellow Jackets entering 2025 is the offensive line, though Brent Key has built a reputation developing lineman and I’ll trust his experience at the position. Give King time in the backfield, and look out. I’ll take the experience of Georgia Tech’s roster to come out on top and cover the spread in this spot.

Game Totals Pick
Under 54.5(-110)

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets return the majority of their production from 2025 on both sides of the ball, with QB Haynes King and 1,000-yard rusher Jamal Haynes leading the offense while the defense ranks top-40 in returning production behind a veteran secondary unit. We know what we can expect from the majority of this GT squad, but the same can’t be said for Colorado. The Buffaloes return only 3 offensive starters, losing their top-4 passing targets from last season along with star QB Shedeur Sanders. Defensively, Travis Hunter is gone and Colorado will be without both linebackers, both safeties and its best pass rusher from the 2024 season. There is a ton of turnover on the Colorado roster, the high-flying offense from a year ago could see tremendous growing pains to start the season.

Despite the veteran presence of Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter at QB, I expect Colorado to lean on the run game in this matchup and attempt to have more of a presence on the ground in 2025 altogether. The same goes for Georgia Tech, who can give defenses nightmares with the dual-threat combination of King at QB and Haynes out of the backfield. The explosive-play potential will likely be limited for Colorado against GT’s veteran secondary while I expect GT to control the tempo with slower, more methodical drives in a tough road matchup to begin the season. With all things considered, I don’t expect fireworks from the Colorado offense and Georgia Tech is more than capable of slowing this game down through the rushing attack and finding its success on the ground. I’ll take the under.
