Memphis vs East Carolina Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
Memphis Win(+125)

With 5 teams having only 1 loss in American Athletic Conference play, the Memphis Tigers need a result here if they want any shot of a conference title. As for ECU, winning out would likely land them in the conference championship game. Memphis is fresh off a close loss against Tulane — a team that also bested ECU earlier in the season — and has fared well on the road this year. The Tigers have a top-30 rushing offense in terms of rushing yards per game and have been incredibly efficient on the ground, ranking 6th in EPA/rush and 29th in success rate when running the football.

On the contrary, ECU oftentimes struggles to establish the run ranking 93rd in EPA/rush, which contributes to their issues finishing drives, ranking 113th in points per quality drive offensively. Furthermore, the Memphis defense has been excellent at generating chaos this season, ranking 15th in FBS with 17 turnovers gained and 11th in team tackles for loss (7.1 per game). With all things considered, I’ll take the value on Memphis as an underdog and back the Tigers to win this one outright.
