The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Arizona Wildcats will still be searching for their first conference win of the season when the 2 teams meet Saturday afternoon at Arizona Stadium. Oklahoma State has lost its last 3 games, with its last loss being a 45-27 home defeat against Baylor. The Cowboys’ defense allowed Baylor’s quarterback Sawyer Robertson to throw for 393 yards and 4 touchdowns. Oklahoma State’s offense hung around early, only trailing by 8 going into halftime, but it wasn’t able to finish the game as strong — losing by double digits.

Arizona also lost its first conference game of the season against Iowa State. The Wildcats fell short 39-14 as 4.5-point underdogs in that game. Quarterback Noah Fifita had arguably his worst game of the season, throwing for 253 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. With Arizona hoping to compete for a Big 12 championship, Saturday’s game is a must-win for the Wildcats.

Oklahoma State was able to show some life offensively against Baylor. Quarterback Zane Flores was forced into the starting position in the Cowboys opener after Hauss Hejny went down with an injury. Flores has looked more comfortable in the offense since then, showing his athleticism, but what he has still struggled with is his accuracy when throwing the ball deep. Arizona was burned by big pass plays against Iowa State, but with how poor Flores has been when throwing the ball deep, Arizona should be able to hold the Cowboys in check. Arizona’s defense has been a strength this season, ranking in the top 30 in the FBS in passing yards allowed, rushing yards allowed, and points allowed. Saturday’s game could be an opportunity for a big rushing game from Fifita and running back Ismail Mahdi. In all three games against FBS opponents this season, Oklahoma State has allowed 200 or more yards rushing. I have Arizona as the favorite in almost every category this game, so I’ll back them to win and cover.
