Pittsburgh Panthers vs Florida State Seminoles Prediction, Odds and Picks for Saturday, 10/11/25

After a loss at home last week against Miami, the Florida State Seminoles are still looking for their first conference win of the season. Florida State fell 28-22 against Miami in a game that was never that close. Miami led Florida State 28-3 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, and they looked the better Florida football team throughout. Quarterback Tommy Castellanos finished the game throwing for 272 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. The Seminoles will need Castellanos to take care of the football if they want to end their two-game losing streak. Their opponent will be the Pittsburgh Panthers. After a loss to West Virginia earlier in the season, a lot of people stopped paying attention to West Virginia, but the Panthers are a good football team. They showed it last week with a 48-7 victory against Boston College. Backup quarterback Mason Heintschel ran the offense and he was excellent, throwing for 323 yards and 4 touchdowns. After a performance like that, it’s likely head coach Pat Narduzzi will go with the true freshman over Eli Holstein again. Holstein was benched after poorly against Louisville, and it seems like he will need to work his way back into the starting lineup with Heintschel playing well.

This a good bounce back spot for the Seminoles after two straight losses. They get the chance to see their defense go up against either a true freshman, or a struggling Holstein. If Heintschel starts, regression is due as he will need to adjust from going against a one-win Boston College defense, to game planning against a Florida State defense that ranks 30th in the nation in points allowed per game. If Pittsburgh starts Holstein, turnovers could heavily favor Florida State. Holstein has thrown at least one interception in his last 4 starts. Florida State will need to clean up the turnovers themselves in this game. They committed 3 turnovers in the loss against Miami. Miami is a national championship hopeful, and their defense excelled against Florida State. Castellanos should have an easier time finding the open receiver this weekend against a Pittsburgh defense that allows 241.3 passing yards per game this season. This is a must win game for the Seminoles in front of their home crowd, I expect them to come out hot against Pittsburgh.
