Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs Minnesota Golden Gophers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/27/25
Rutgers vs Minnesota Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Minnesota Golden Gophers are coming off a much-needed bye week after falling to California 27-14 last time out, a loss that looks even uglier after the Bears got blown out by San Diego State last week. Rutgers, on the other hand, is also coming off a loss in a tight contest against a solid Iowa squad. Both teams will want to bounce-back in the win column, but there is little reason to have faith in the Golden Gophers to win comfortably in this spot. The Scarlet Knights have a substantial advantage in the efficiency category.
For starters, Rutgers ranks 3rd nationally in quality drive rate and 28th in points per quality drive on offense, while Minnesota is 117th in points per quality drive. Furthermore, Minnesota ranks 94th in net points per drive, while Rutgers sits up at 11th in FBS. Underlying numbers aside, Rutgers easily has the more trustworthy quarterback in Athan Kaliakmanis, a former Gopher in somewhat of a “revenge spot” for what it’s worth. While 5.0 might not seem like a ton of points, I don’t expect Minnesota to have the firepower to pull away in this one considering it’s managed 12 20+ yard plays this season. With all things considered, I’ve got Rutgers covering on the road.
Rutgers vs Minnesota prediction: Rutgers Scarlet Knights +5.0 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.
