The Texas Tech Red Raiders head to Houston to face the Houston Cougars in a Big 12 battle of unbeaten teams. Seemingly every team in the Big 12 is good, and Houston is very much on the rise. They struggled a bit last week at Oregon State before ultimately coming away with a 3-point road win, but this team is much improved from a season ago. Of course, I think Texas Tech is a playoff team and probably the best team in the conference, and they smoked Oregon State earlier in the season at home, if the point of comparison matters. Tech also blasted Utah in Utah. Guys, this team is really good, and we need to pay attention. Give me the Red Raiders by 10.5, a line that is already growing as the week goes on.

Of note, Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton left the Utah game with a concussion, but he is cleared to play after the bye week. His backup was probably even better though, and it was him who ran up the score in the second half. If you don’t know, Tech spent a ton of money in the transfer portal, and they returned one of the largest transfer hauls in the country in the process. There is a ton of talent here. Houston worked the portal hard too, and they have made significant progress, but they aren’t where Tech is. QB Conner Weigman (A&M transfer) has lifted the Cougars considerably, but I think the Cougs will be outmatched in this one. I am riding with the Red Raiders all season until they give me a reason not to.

Texas Tech vs Houston Prediction: Texas Tech -10.5 (-110) available at the time of publishing. Playable to -13.5.
