Utah Utes vs West Virginia Mountaineers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/27/25
Utah vs West Virginia Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Utah Utes will travel across the country to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday. Both teams are coming off a conference loss and looking to avoid going 0-2 in the Big 12. Utah fell short last week 34-10 against Texas Tech in their home stadium. That game was a one-touchdown difference at the end of the third quarter, but the Utes lost control in the fourth quarter — allowing Texas Tech to put 24 points on the board in the final 15 minutes. Quarterback Devon Dampier was not his best, throwing 2 interceptions and no touchdowns. West Virginia lost their last game in Kansas 41-10. Kansas was able to easily cover as 13.5-point favorites. Quarterback Nicco Marchiol was impressive two weeks ago against Pittsburgh, but he struggled against Kansas. His final stat line was 15 of 27 for 126 yards and 1 interception.
The question for this game is which team can bounce back from a tough loss last week. Under head coach Kyle Whittingham, Utah has shown they have become a steady, well-run program. West Virginia has been a little shakier in recent seasons, with the ability to either beat anyone or flop on any given week. We saw against Pittsburgh two weeks ago how tough West Virginia can be to beat on their home field. When this offense gets going, they can run the ball effectively behind Tye Edwards. Unfortunately for West Virginia, Edwards may be out this game with a hip injury. This injury also kept Edwards out last week, and the offense struggled to put together first downs without him. Without their lead back, I see West Virginia struggling against a stout Utah defense that ranks 33rd in the FBS in yards allowed per game. I feel much better putting my trust in a solid Utah program to bounce back with a big road win.
Utah vs West Virginia prediction: Utah Utes -12.5 is available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
