Virginia Cavaliers vs NC State Wolfpack Prediction, Odds and Picks for Saturday, 09/06/25
Virginia vs NC State Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Virginia Cavaliers take on the NC State Wolfpack in what will serve as a nonconference matchup despite both schools playing in the ACC. NC State has dominated this series historically, but I am all over the Cavaliers in this spot. After ranking 93rd in passing yards allowed per game, the Wolfpack secondary looked incredibly suspect in their Week 1 matchup against East Carolina. The Pirates tossed for 383 yards through the air with no turnovers against NC State, and I expect Virginia QB Chandler Morris to have a field day along with WR1 Cam Ross, who had 124 receiving yards and 1 TD to open the year.
The Wolfpack rank 101st in rushing success rate through one game, and if they can’t establish the run in this one, I’m not sure if QB CJ Bailey and co. can keep up with the pace of Virginia’s offense. Roughly 70% of public bets side with the Wolfpack, yet the spread has moved in Virginia’s favor from +4.5 down to +2.5 at the time of writing. With that being said, I’ll follow the reverse line movement and take Virginia to cover the spread.
Virginia vs NC State prediction: Virginia +2.5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.
