Washington Huskies vs Maryland Terrapins Prediction, Odds and Picks for Saturday, 10/04/25
Washington vs Maryland Pickswise Expert Predictions
Washington looked great through 3 games, but the Huskies were humbled a bit in Week 5 against the Buckeyes. Despite boasting the second-longest home winning streak in the nation, Washington couldn’t get going in Seattle against the rugged Ohio State defense. The Huskies mustered just 6 points and 234 total yards, averaging just 2.0 yards per rush attempt and converting just 1 of 11 third downs. Meanwhile, Washington allowed the Buckeyes to extend drives on 6 of 10 third downs, en route to gaining 357 yards and scoring 24 points.
Washington won’t have any time to dwell on their bleak performance against the Buckeyes, as the Huskies will leave the state of Washington for the first time on a cross-country trip to Maryland for a date with the Terrapins – who enter this contest off a bye, brimming with confidence thanks to a 4-0 start and a 27-10 beatdown at Wisconsin in Week 4. In their latest win, the Terps held the Badgers to just 3/17 on third downs and below 300 total yards despite Wisconsin having a 14-minute time-of-possession advantage. Furthermore, the Badgers averaged just 1.5 yards per rush attempt on 42 total attempts. That defensive performance was no fluke. The Terps are the real deal on that side of the ball, sitting top 5 nationally in yards per play against FBS opponents, PPA per play, and points per quality drive outside of garbage time.
On the other side of the ball, Malik Washington and the Terps are unlikely to face much resistance from a Washington secondary that sits outside the top 100 in both passing downs PPA and PPA per pass despite 3 very easy early-season games. Expect Washington to be able to operate the offense with comfort in front of his home crowd, allowing the Maryland defense to propel the Terps to a cover and a real chance to steal an outright win as a home underdog. My projections show about 2 points of value on Maryland in this spot, which does not even account for the Terps’ rest advantage or the cross-country travel for the Huskies. I’m grabbing the points with the home puppies in this one.
Washington vs Maryland prediction: Maryland Terrapins +6.5 (-105) at the time of publishing. Playable to +4.
