Rory McIlroy’s main focus for this week will likely be on fine-tuning his game ahead of next week’s OS Open, but one man who certainly won’t lack motivation is Canada’s Taylor Pendrith, who knows this course better than most. Matti Schmid missed a golden opportunity to win the Charles Schwab Challenge a fortnight ago, losing to Ben Griffin after shooting a final-round 72. That experience should prove a learning curve for the German, who has form figures of 9-MC-7-2 from his last 4 events.
