Charles Schwab Challenge Pickswise Expert Predictions

Winner PickBest Bet
D. Berger to win Charles Schwab Challenge(+2500)

Daniel Berger won this tournament in 2020 but had 18 months out of action with back problems. However, he is enjoying his second year back in the game and a victory here would be the cherry on top of the cake. Berger has come close a few times recently, finishing 2nd at the Phoenix Open and 3rd at last month’s RBC Heritage, and while he was 33rd at Quail Hollow, his final round of 68 was beaten by only 3 players. The memories of his playoff victory over Collin Morikawa 5 years ago could be a great motivation and this could be the week his comeback is completed.

Winner Pick
J. Spieth to win Charles Schwab Challenge(+2700)

While Scheffler will have plenty of local support, the Lone Star galleries will also be out in full force for Jordan Spieth on a course where long drivers don’t tend to be rewarded but accurate course management can be a telling factor. Spieth has not won in more than 3 years, but there have been encouraging signs besides the fact his best friend Justin Thomas ended a similarly long barren spell at the Heritage. The 3-time Major winner had 6 top-20 finishes in 10 events before Quail Hollow, and while he missed the cut at the 2nd Major of the year, his 2nd round of 68 almost got him over the line. He won this tournament in 2016 and has had 3 other runner-up finishes, so the familiar environment could help him find his best form.

Winner Pick
D. Riley to win Charles Schwab Challenge(+5500)

Defending champion Davis Riley is also worth an interest after he stormed to a 5-shot win last year as a huge +35000 outsider. He was the first maiden winner in 23 tournaments at Colonial, but he will have been encouraged by his 2nd-place finish at Quail Hollow. He would have given Scheffler a better run for his money had it not been for a triple-bogey 8 on the 7th and he was 4th on his Colonial debut 2 years before his victory.
