This AL East matchup presents an excellent pitching battle, but exactly how long can we expect to see either starter with a playoff appearance looming for both teams? With a total so low, and the off-chance that Cam Schlittler specifically has a shorter leash than normal, an over feels like the prudent play.
Seattle's Bryan Woo is in excellent form in September, carrying a sub-1.50 ERA. His Mariners are a perfect 4-0 in those games, winning three by at least two runs -- including his eight-inning masterpiece at home against the A's on September 6. The Angels are hitting just .190 against Woo in 63 combined at-bats.
The Dodgers don't have much to play for here, and while the Padres look to have already locked up a Wild Card spot, the order of the three Wild-Card teams remains to be seen while Arizona threatens. When it comes to starting pitching, the Padres will trot out the more in-form option, as Nick Pivetta has been excellent this month with a 1.93 ERA. Tyler Glasnow isn't in the same ballpark, carrying a September ERA north of 5.60.
