A season ago, this award went to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who bounced back from injury with a tremendous season, despite the fact that his team missed the playoffs. NFL Comeback Player of the Year best bet: Aidan Hutchinson (+300)

At first glance, I wanted to back Dak Prescott with a wager in this market. After all, the Cowboys starter is coming back from a hamstring injury and the veteran quarterback finished in the top 5 of MVP voting 2 seasons ago, so it’s certainly possible that he and this Cowboys team overachieves a bit. We know that Dallas is a team that the NFL media and voters could get behind, but I just cant get there with Prescott as the favorite for this award. Instead, I’m going to look toward the Detroit Lions and target their franchise defensive end to have an inspiring bounce-back season en route to claiming this award.
Aidan Hutchinson has had a tremendous start to his career in Detroit, quickly establishing himself as one of the best players in the sport. However, in his 3rd season with the Lions, Hutchinson was sadly forced to miss most of last season after fracturing both bones in his lower leg in Week 6 against the Cowboys. While he’s still a very young player, Hutchinson is the leader of the Detroit defense and the Lions clearly were much worse off without him last fall. Recent reports from training camp have been very encouraging for the defensive lineman, leading me to believe that he should approach this season with vigor and can be expected to bounce back in a big way.
It’ll be an inspiring story if Hutchinson is able to perform at a high level once again following a serious injury, which presents us with a compelling case for taking this number at +300. While Hutchinson is one of the favorites in this market, Burrow was the favorite heading into the 2024 campaign, so the obvious selections do have a tendency to win this award in recent years. Let’s take a shot on Hutchinson to have an excellent comeback season and hope that the voters are also taken with his story.
