Ketel Marte put on a show in the NLCS. If you didn’t know, he made history along the way. He became the first player in MLB history to start his postseason career with 16 straight games with a hit. I’m projecting the on-fire second baseman to not only record a hit on Friday night but also cash this player prop bet for the 10th time this postseason in 13 games.
Marte will have his hands full with RHP Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi will get the start over Jordan Montgomery, who pitched in Game 7 of the ALCS. Eovaldi’s postseason resume speaks for itself, but he has shown to be hittable this postseason. The righty has allowed at least 5 hits in all 4 postseason starts, including 3 walks in his last outing. DraftKings Sportsbook has Eovaldi’s outs line listed at 15.5 with vig on the over. Meaning, Marte should see Eovaldi at least twice.
Eovaldi and Marte have yet to face off in their careers, with Eovaldi spending the last 8 seasons in the AL. But Marte has found success against just about everybody. He is hitting .358 with 8 extra-base hits this postseason. Once the bullpen gets involved for Texas (which has a 3.72 ERA and has had its lapses this postseason), I trust Marte to deliver on the road — where he will be up to bat for a full 9 innings.
