Best MLB player prop for Monday's slate: Wood punks Dodgers

Alex Wood MLB player prop

The San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers meet tonight right in the middle of a Monday Night Football game. Is that a problem? No, not for us, because we’re battle-tested. We’ve had multiple sports crossing over each other for weeks now. What I like to do in a situation like this is take a MLB player prop. The best type for me is the old pitcher strikeout number. Doing so means you only have to watch half the game if you want. On top of that once your guy gets home or gets pulled, you no longer have the obligation to keep watching unless you just want to. Think of it as a lease with an option to buy. We’re dating this game, not marrying it (unless it’s the one). Here’s what I have in mind.

If you’re on Twitter, you need to follow me right now. That’s the best advice I can give you and probably the smartest thing you will do all day. Once lineups are announced for some of this game, there is a chance for opportunity to knock. You should be there to answer it.

Alex Wood over 4.5 strikeouts (+102)

Line available at FanDuel at time of publishing.

DraftKings knows what time it is because they threw up a 3.5 -190 on this guy. Any time a sports book doesn’t want any action on a MLB player prop, they just juice it like that. But since we have an option, we’ll go to FanDuel for this one since they have a more respectable 4.5 +102 hanging. BetMGM is also in the mix with 4.5 for +100.

This is just a bad number for Wood since he has been getting stretched out for his last 3 starts. He went from 37 pitches, to 61 to 74. If you are familiar with patterns, I think you know where he should go tonight if he doesn’t get waxed. He should be fine, being that in his last 16 starts, he’s hit this number 13 times and 1 of the times he didn’t was the night he whiffed 4 in only 37 pitches.

Wood will see his former team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and even though they know him, he still fanned at least 7 of them in all 3 starts against them this season. On top of that, he will get to pitch to Max Scherzer, who struck out 28 times in 59 at-bats this season. He could easily be a 2-whiff guy tonight, making this one even easier.

This is my favorite MLB player prop on the slate.
