The NBA has a 5-game slate for us tonight, with a meeting between historic rivals to close out the night. The Boston Celtics will be visiting the Los Angeles Lakers in a clash between a couple of the most decorated teams in the league. The Celtics look capable of adding more accolades this season as they currently lead the Eastern Conference. The Lakers, on the other hand, will be hoping a win gets them closer to the playoff picture in the west. Be sure to lock in our NBA picks for each of tonight’s games, but for now, let’s let’s check out my favorite player props for tonight.

Joel Embiid over 10.5 rebounds (+100)
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid comes into tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings having recorded 11 or more rebounds in 3 of the 4 games in December so far. He currently averages 10.3 rebounds per game and should be able to exceed that with a favorable matchup here. While Domantas Sabonis is a great rebounder for the Kings, he is undersized for a center. With Embiid towering over him, he should have the upper hand in grabbing rebounds tonight. Despite Sabonis being a good passer from the top of the post, he is not an efficient shooter. That should allow the 76ers superstar to maintain great rebounding position throughout the night, not having to stray far from the paint. Therefore look for him to exceed his home rebounding average.

Deandre Ayton over 20.5 points (-104)
With Devin Booker missing the last game, the Suns needed a new offensive focal point. Deandre Ayton stepped up. He dropped 28 points against the New Orleans Pelicans and should resume this role tonight against the Houston Rockets. While he did not have a great scoring night the last time the teams met, he did not have Chris Paul feeding him the ball. With the point guard back in the lineup, Ayton becomes a much bigger pick-and-roll threat. Opposing center Alperen Sengun is not the most athletic player and could be exploited in such situations. With him giving up a size and weight advantage to Ayton too, the center should have success scoring on post-ups. As a result, consider backing Ayton’s over.

Anthony Davis over 27.5 points (-115)
After being forced to miss some time with an illness, Anthony Davis has returned and continued his hot scoring run. In the last 2 outings, he has managed points totals of 31 and 34 points respectively. He will be going up against the Boston Celtic tonight who are dealing with several injuries. Robert Williams III and Al Horford both look set to miss this game. That should leave Davis up against Blake Griffin here. The Celtics man is one of the team’s worst defenders, ranking 13th on their roster in defensive rating. Averaging 0.1 blocks per game, he offers very little in terms of rim protection too. With great defenders out on the perimeter, look for the Lakers to force the ball inside and run everything through their star center. Expect him to dominate once more here.
