The 2 most exciting words in all of sports: Game 7! It all comes down to this — the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics get to decide who advances to the next round in what is must-watch game on Saturday night. The action starts at 7:30 pm ET on NBC.
For this occasion I have come up with a Same Game Parlay bet, priced at +337 odds. The NBA postseason is in full effect, so I highly recommend you check out our NBA picks for all upcoming NBA postseason games — including a pair of Game 7s coming our way on Sunday. Now let’s get into my play for 76ers vs Celtics Game 7!
76ers +8.5 (-118)
Paul George 3+ made threes (+100)
Jayson Tatum to record 10+ rebounds (-200)
Same Game Parlay odds: +337
76ers +8.5 (-118)
A lot of people wrote off the 76ers once Boston went up 3-1 in this series, but we saw great determination from this Philly side over the past 2 games to not get eliminated. They’ve done a fabulous job of implementing Joel Embiid back into the offense after his long layoff due to injury — one could wonder what would have happened if they had him available from the beginning of this series. Since his return, the Sixers have looked like a more complete team. The likes of Tyrese Maxey and Paul George have thrived on offense with the big fella drawing a ton of attention both down low as well as around the perimeter. Embiid’s impact is also visible on the defensive end, the Celtics have scored under 100 points in the last 2 games, with their three-point shot staying under 30% in both games. History might be on Boston’s side, as it has not lost a postseason series vs Philadelphia since 1982. At some point that streak will have to end. Why not on Saturday? The 76ers have all of the momentum; if they can weather the storm early, anything can happen. I’m more than happy to back them as +8.5 point ‘dogs to cover.
Paul George 3+ made threes (+100)
Paul George’s tenure as a 76er has not yielded the results Sixers fans were hoping, as he has just not lived up to the expectations of the max contract he was handed a couple of years back. However, all that will be forgotten if George is able to contribute in Saturday’s game at TD Garden. He has come to life in this series when it matters the most, scoring 23 points in that vital Game 6 win for Philadelphia, looking like the Paul George of old. He’s shooting the three-ball at a very impressive 54.3% in the series, while connecting on 3.2 threes per game on 5.8 attempts a night. Following a somewhat slower start in the opening 2 games, he has now hit on this over in 4 consecutive games. Elimination games mostly come down to experience and George has plenty of it as one of the older players on this Sixers roster. In his last 20 games with his season on the line PG is averaging 23.2 ppg to go along with his 8.4 rebs and 4.3 assists per game. The three-ball is falling at a rate of 32.5%, with him scoring at least 2 threes in 14 of those and at least 3 threes in 9 of them.
Jayson Tatum to record 10+ rebounds (-200)
Boston fans have high expectations from Jayson Tatum going into Game 7 on Saturday, and they have a good reason. The last time Tatum played in a Game 7 against Philadelphia, he went off for 51 points while also grabbing 13 rebounds back in 2023. Circumstances have changed since then obviously, but Tatum should still have an impact on this game. He has been very reliable on the rebounding front so far in the series, grabbing 10.7 per game and clearing this line in 4 of the 6 games — including the last 2 in a row. As we all know, defenses tend to tighten up in Game 7s with rebounding figures going up across the board. I anticipate that to be the case in Saturday’s game, as well. Tatum has delivered double-digit rebounds in 4 of his last 5 elimination games. So far in his career, he has appeared in 17 games with his season on the line and is averaging 8.8 rebounds per game. Being in the same division, Tatum has faced the 76ers a fair amount of times throughout his career. The last 20 meetings have seen him average 10.6 rebounds per game; the over on this bet has cashed 12 times during that stretch.
