Mika Zibanejad anytime goal scorer (-110)

The Canucks have not had an identity all season and they are still vulnerable. Vancouver is a respectable 2-1-1 since Rick Tocchet and company took over behind the bench. But they have either scored or allowed 5+ goals in each of those games. The Canucks held the Blackhawks and Blue Jackets in check which is not very difficult for most teams. But when they played quality teams during this short span, they allowed 11 total goals to the Kraken and Devils. The Rangers are the better team in this one and are playing good hockey. There is no reason they can’t run up the score on the Canucks, and if that’s the case, Mika Zibanejad should be right in the middle of the action.

Zibanejad has been arguably the most reliable player on the Rangers all season which is no surprise. He leads the team in goals with 24 and is tied for the team lead in points with 52 in 50 games played. Zibanejad has a very good +15 rating, indicating that although he is not directly responsible for all the good and bad, good things generally happen when he is on the ice. In the Rangers’ first game back from the all-star break, Zibanejad tallied 2 goals and an assist with 8 shots against the Flames. He is on the Rangers’ top line and top power. At any time, he is likely on the ice with some combination of Artemi Panarin, Chris Kreider, Vincent Trochek, and Adam Fox among others. Zibanejad and the Rangers should be licking their chops.

Ryan Hartman over 0.5 points (+105)

For the stretch run, Ryan Hartman is listed on Minnesota’s top line with a couple guys named Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello. You may have heard of them. That line can hang with arguably any line in hockey. They have a combined 124 points in 123 games. Any time these guys are on the ice, there is potential for something good to happen. Hartman is also on the Wild’s second power-play unit. Minnesota’s only reported injury right now is a defenseman, so this is not a situation where Hartman is elevated in the lineup due to injuries. He has certified himself as an important player among Wild forwards and is put into positions to succeed.

The Wild and Stars have played each other twice this season in games where they each took a win. Minnesota has outscored Dallas by a total of just 7-6. There is a slim margin of error between these teams and it should make for a great game. In a clash between playoff contenders that is likely to stay close until the end, top players tend to see the most ice time. These 2 points could be very valuable for the Wild with the Avalanche breathing down their neck in the standings. If the Wild and Stars are in a battle come the 3rd period, look for them to shorten the bench. In that case, Hartman would benefit from more ice time with his star linemates. The game script and Hartman’s favorable situation in Minnesota’s lineup gives this pick strong value at plus-money odds.
