If you had been told that the first Game 7s of the opening round of the NHL playoffs would be Panthers-Bruins and Kraken-Avalanche, you likely would not have believed it. The Avalanche and especially the Bruins were expected to take care of business swiftly considering their overall prowess and consistent dominant performances. The Kraken and Panthers just will not go away, though. What a great day of hockey this should be.

If you are looking to have some action yourself, here are our favorite NHL player prop bets for Sunday’s schedule. You can also check out our NHL picks for each of today’s games.

Taylor Hall over 0.5 points (+100)

Taylor Hall has come up big for the Bruins in this surprisingly challenging opening series. The Bruins and the hockey world did not really expect this series to go 7 games, but here we are. Hall led the Bruins to a Game 4 victory in the middle of a run in which he logged goals in 4 consecutive games. He leads the historically good team in goals in this postseason and has the 3rd-most points on the team with 8 in 6 games. The former top overall pick and league MVP has made comments that it is not lost on him that this team presents as good of a chance as he will ever have to lift the Stanley Cup. Hall’s play thus far has reflected that.

Hall has averaged over a point per game through 6 games in this series. Although thatt is not a huge sample size, it is not a flash in the pan and he can prove it is not a fluke. A +100 number for him just to tally a point is a great value. Hall is slated on the third line, but his linemates are Charlie Coyle and Tyler Bertuzzi, which reflects how deep this Boston team is. He is also on the team’s second power-play unit with Pavel Zacha, Jake DeBrusk, Hampus Lindholm and Dmitry Orlov. Hall is consistently on the ice with very good players, several of whom have already been involved in the success he has had in this series. These odds are too good to pass up.

Nathan MacKinnon over 1.5 points (-120)

This is another series that not many fans or folks in the media had going to 7 games, let alone with Colorado being the team needing to tie it in Game 6. The Avalanche have not brought their A-game and they have got away with it so far. Whether or not they take care of business at home, one thing we know is that Nathan MacKinnon should show up. MacKinnon has 3 goals and 3 assists in this series, good for a point-per-game average. Those 6 points now give MacKinnon 99 in 76 career playoff games. That is a guy you can count on when it matters.

Sure, MacKinnon averages over a point per game in his career in the playoffs and is as reliable and steady of a playoff player as there is in the NHL. Seattle has done a good job neutralizing him in this series, and he has still been good for a point per game. The Avalanche know by now that the Kraken are not a fluke and they cannot take them lightly. In a do-or-die game, MacKinnon should be seen at his best. The only thing scarier than normal MacKinnon is one on a mission to keep the season alive. He has the talent and a chip on his shoulder, and it doesn’t hurt that he plays with fellow star players. Look for a big night from #29 on the home team.
