Best player props for Saturday's CFB slate: Stroud airs it out

CJ Stroud CFB player props

Player props aren’t just for MLB, NBA and NFL. Not by a mile. CFB player props are some of the most electric ways to get in on Saturday afternoons. They just are. We don’t get to bet them for all the games but there is almost always CFB player props for the big ones. Like the Oregon-Ohio State matchup Saturday at noon. Or the Utah Utes vs the BYU Cougars at 10:15pm ET. It’s all deadly and we need action on the props. Here are my favorite 2 for Saturday.

On top of this article, you should definitely check out our CFB experts’ picks for the action today. It’s just a smart thing to do. Also, bets can be added to the card, so why not follow me on Twitter in case we get some last-second action? Once lineups are announced for some of these games, there is a chance for opportunity to knock.

CJ Stroud over 242.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing.

So far this season, CFB player props have come at in this order; DraftKings, BetMGM then Fanduel. DraftKings is out now and CFB player props are all about timing. I prefer making them soon after the lines come out because they can swing wildly. Nobody wants that so we are going with DraftKings for this one.

CJ Stroud was not great against Minnesota in the opener but he was still able to get over this number. Obviously all college games are going to be different but the fact is, he went over 242.5 yards last week. Game script matters and it worked to stroud’s advantage last week as the Buckeyes trailed for pretty much the whole game. That could happen again Saturday (kind of).

I don’t think Oregon is going to beat Ohio State and it’s normally not a good idea to take a quarterback’s passing yards over when his team is favored by more than 2 touchdowns. But here’s the thing, I doubt that Buckeye defense can handle Oregon. I think Ohio State will need 40+ points again this week and they should be able to get theirs through the air. The Ducks just gave up 298 yards through the air last week so they’re ripe. I think this will happen easier than most think.

Charlie Brewer over 221.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Same as the other CFB player prop, this one is from DraftKings. The only difference here is that this game is being played at 10:15pm ET so we have time on Saturday to watch how this moves. We also have time to wait and see what the other books offer. If they tossed out 225.5 at plus money, maybe we do that. For now though, it’s DraftKings or nothing.

People forget that I’m a Utah Utes guy. No I didn’t go there but I did take their season win total over 8.5. They looked good last week against Weber State and one thing that was noticeable was the fact that they were throwing the ball. Charlie Brewer threw it 17 times which was way more than I though he would against a school like Weber State. The Utes should need him to throw it just as much or even more this week.

BYU is a rival and they will show up. I don’t think they will win the game but I don’t think it will be a beatdown. Thy slipped by Arizona last week but they gave up 336 yards through the air in the process. Arizona threw the ball 45 times but still. This cougar defense is soft in the secondary and if their offense can score just enough, Utah will need Brewer to attack through the air. This is a good bet.
