Alex Ovechkin over 0.5 goals (+100)

Through 6 games this season, Ovechkin has recorded 7 goals and is currently tied for the league lead. He’s gone only 1 game this year without scoring a goal, and he’s currently on a 2-game goal streak. The greatest goalscorer of this generation, and likely the greatest scorer of all time, is chasing down Wayne Gretzky’s record of 894 goals. Ovechkin is only 4 goals back of 4th place all-time, and it looks like he’s playing with something to prove this season. Detroit has been allowing 3.5 goals per game, and their goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic is posting an .897 SVP. Ovechkin currently has 26 shots on goal through 6 games, if he can continue his shooting dominance of 26.9%, he’ll likely manage to get a shot past Nedeljkovic and extend his goal streak to 3 games. Take Ovechkin to get a goal in this one.

Connor McDavid over 1.5 points (-125)

Connor McDavid is also chasing down a Wayne Gretzky record this season. He’s looking to record his 6th straight multi-point game. The Oilers’ record currently sits at 7 games and that’s held by The Great One. There’s no reason to bet against McDavid now. He has 13 points in 5 games and has led the Oilers to a 5-0-0 start to the season. He’s simply better than everyone else in the league, there’s no other way to put it. He’s averaging close to 3 points a game and hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. Every year he seems to get better. Every single game this season he has recorded 2 or more points. At -125 these are actually great odds considering what McDavid has done so far and what he’s likely to continue doing. The Oilers have recorded 5 or more goals in their last 4 games, and most of that is due to McDavid’s dominance. Expect another multi-point game from McDavid, and take him to get over 1.5 points tonight.
